Newsela Writing Access

Starting July 2025, Newsela Writing is offered for purchase as an Add-on to a premium subscription. If your school or district has purchased Newsela Premium licenses and is interested in purchasing Newsela Writing, please reach out to your dedicated Newsela customer success manager or send our support team a message here, for more information.

Teachers and students will need Newsela accounts in order to use Newsela Writing.

  • For teachers with a premium subscription who need to add their students to Newsela, we recommend following the instructions outlined here.

  • Teachers with a Newsela Lite account who start a free trial of Newsela Premium will have access to Newsela Writing's experience as part of their free trial as long as it lasts.

  • Teachers with a legacy Newsela Essentials license do not have access to Newsela Writing because this licensing is not a premium subject subscription.
