Quick Assign
The express lane to assign content on Newsela
Teachers can assign content directly from content cards by pressing the âQuick Assignâ button > opening a pop-up window.
Luna Autograder for Write Prompts
We're gearing up to help teachers trade hours of manual grading for AI-assisted support!
Autogrades all completed Write prompts (teachers can override scores)

Class Directory
Teachers no longer need to click into their account Settings menu to locate the Class Directory. Instead, the Class Directory is now listed as a separate dropdown menu option on the profile info tab, and also appears in the Quick Links on the home page.
Printable Fluency Practice Activity
Newsela's Fluency Practice print option reduces teachers' prep time by allowing teachers to instantly convert high-interest, leveled Newsela articles into zero-prep, two-page oral reading fluency assessment sheets.
The teacher copy automatically equips instructors with an accuracy guide, an AI-generated vocabulary preview, cumulative word counts, a shorthand scoring key, and a WCPM calculation box.
Meanwhile, the student copy provides a clean version of the text with clear line numbering, allowing older struggling readers to practice using the same rigorous topics as their peers and eliminating the stigma of remedial tracking.
